Now Freda and her girlfriends – all decades older – go back in time and tell the inside story of what life was like as the British Invasion began and the phenomenon that was “The Fab Four” emerged from post-war Liverpool. This hilarious new play unravels the missteps of Austen’s beloved heroines, Elinor, Elizabeth, and Emma. When a coming-out ball doesn’t go as planned, Emma, Elinor, and Elizabeth all gather upstairs to compare their dance cards and their dates. Bad Dates with Jane Austen, a play with music, echoes the laments of Regency-era dating. It is filled with anachronisms, allegories, and enough anguish for both the actors and the audience to feast on.
